intercontinentalGrupo Presidente selects Bryan W. Tarrant to redesign the Presidente InterContinental Cozume Resort & Spa MEXICO CITY (April, 2006) Grupo Presidente, operator of Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, announces that Bryan W. Tarrant of Bantastudio has been selected to direct the $25 million (USD) renovation and redevelopment of the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa. The exclusive resort, which is expected to re-open on October 1, 2006, will be repositioned as a five-star luxury property. Mr. Tarrant will be responsible for the overall design concept of the project, including the creation of the resort's new, opulent one and two bedroom "Ocean Suites" and creative concepts for redesigning the resort's public areas and guestrooms. Colors for the fabrics and artwork throughout the resort were carefully chosen to complement rather than compete with the lush, colorful outdoor environment. The design approach is to provide a contemporary yet timeless envelope of comfort within which the guest can relax in a private oasis while appreciating the real 'star of the show' - the fabulous tropical setting. "We chose Bryan for his experience in creating masterful designs, particularly in the tourism industry, and because, like Grupo Presidente, he is passionate about the new vision for the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa," said Mr. Carlos Behnsen, Director of Marketing, Grupo Presidente. Mr. Tarrant has won five Hospitality Design Gold Key Awards for his work on high profile projects in the United States, India, Egypt, the Virgin Islands, Japan, China and England. The Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa, located on nearly 1,000 feet of Cozumel's most prized white sand beach, will feature a new lobby featuring individual check-in desks, an expanded "Scuba Du" dive and watersports facility - ideal for first-time divers and pros alike - the full-service Serenity Spa, a golf putting green, a second "adults only" pool and bar, a renovated "Chiqui Club" for children, and a courtyard featuring retail shops and new tennis courts. The resort's entrance will feature a new road lined with newly planted lush vegetation and fountains. The resort's signature restaurant, Alfredo di Roma, is being completely redesigned and will feature a new bar area and a private room with its own terrace. The Caribeño Restaurant will be completely new and includes a lounge area for guests and a spectacular bar with inspiring views of the Caribbean Sea.
